Our Story

Awakening Spaces Through Innovative Architecture

Our Process

Who We Really Are

Look, we're not gonna pretend we've got all the answers. What we do have is a genuine obsession with creating spaces that don't just look good in photos but actually work for the people using them every day.

Started back in 2012 when three of us couldn't find anyone building the kind of sustainable, human-centered projects we believed in. So we figured - why not do it ourselves? Probably naive at the time, but here we are 13 years later.

Vancouver's our home, and we've watched this city grow like crazy. We're constantly thinking about how architecture can respond to that growth without losing what makes a place special. Sometimes that means new builds, sometimes it's about bringing heritage structures back to life.

How We Actually Work

No corporate jargon, just the real deal

We Listen First

Before sketching a single line, we spend time understanding what you actually need - not what we think looks cool. Your daily routines, your frustrations with current spaces, your dreams for what could be. That's where good design starts.

Sustainability Isn't Optional

It's 2025 - we can't keep building like it's 1995. Every project gets the sustainability treatment, whether it's passive heating design, material selection, or energy systems. Not because it's trendy, but because it's the only way forward.

Collaboration Over Ego

You'll be working with the whole team, not just one "star architect". We've found that bouncing ideas around leads to better outcomes than any single genius working alone. Plus, it's way more fun.

Respecting What Came Before

Old buildings have stories. When we do restoration work, we're not trying to freeze them in time or erase their history. We're looking for ways to let them keep evolving while honoring what made them matter in the first place.

Meet the Team

The folks making it happen

Sarah Chen

Sarah Chen

Principal Architect

Been with us since day one. Sarah's the one who'll catch design problems at 3am and send you sketches. Her thing is residential work that actually feels like home, not a showroom.

Marcus Okonkwo

Marcus Okonkwo

Lead Sustainable Design

If there's a green building technology, Marcus has probably tested it. He's got this knack for making sustainable features work within real-world budgets. Also makes the best coffee in the office.

Elena Kowalski

Elena Kowalski

Heritage & Restoration

Elena's the one you want when dealing with century-old structures. She's got this amazing ability to see what a building was meant to be while figuring out how to make it work for today.

James Park

James Park

Commercial Projects Director

James handles our bigger commercial stuff. He's really good at balancing what clients want with what actually makes sense for the people using the space daily. Super organized too.

Priya Sharma

Priya Sharma

Interior Space Planning

Priya's got this eye for how people actually move through spaces. She's saved us from some pretty awkward layout choices over the years. Also keeps plants alive, which is impressive.

Thomas Bergeron

Thomas Bergeron

Urban Development Consultant

Tom thinks about the bigger picture - how buildings fit into neighborhoods and cities. He's usually the one asking "okay but how does this affect the street?" which we need.

Recognition & Milestones

Some moments we're proud of

2024

Canadian Green Building Award

Our mixed-use project on Commercial Drive got recognized for net-zero energy design. Honestly didn't think we'd pull it off within budget, but the team nailed it.

2023

BC Heritage Conservation Award

The Gastown warehouse restoration project. Elena led this one and managed to keep all the original timber structure while making it actually functional for modern office use.

2022

RAIC Innovation in Architecture

Recognition for our modular housing approach. We'd been testing this concept for affordable housing - designing units that could be adapted as families changed over time.

2021

Vancouver Urban Design Award

Community center project in Mount Pleasant. What made this special was how much input we got from actual neighborhood residents during design. Changed everything.

2019

Lieutenant Governor's Award

Residential project in West Van that worked with the natural slope instead of fighting it. Tricky site, but ended up being one of our favorite builds.

2017

LEED Platinum Certification

First commercial building in our portfolio to hit Platinum. Marcus practically lived on site for six months fine-tuning everything, but worth it.

Team Collaboration

Why We Do This

Honestly? Because buildings outlive us. The stuff we design today - people will be walking through it, living in it, working in it for decades. That's a responsibility we take seriously.

Vancouver's changing fast, and not always in ways that feel good. We're trying to push back a bit - create spaces that connect people instead of isolating them, that work with nature instead of against it.

There's this moment on every project when the space goes from concept to reality, and you see someone walk in and just... get it. That's what keeps us going through the tough permit meetings and budget negotiations.
